VBB’s Open Journal: Think Global - Act Local!

Voices Breaking Boundaries’ Artistic/Founding Director Sehba Sarwar has been co-producing radio shows on KPFT 90.1 FM for nearly a decade. In 2011-12, VBB started our own monthly radio show, Think Global - Act Local!, a regular feature on KPFT’s Open Journal. Hosts will include members of VBB’s artistic team including Sehba Sarwar, Yunuen Perez Vertti, Autumn Knight, Marcela Descalzi and others.

Past guests have included Patti Smith, Cesar Espinosa, Cameron Armstrong, and many more. See below to listen to archived programs.

Sarwar also played a brief previously recorded interview with Tasneem Ahmar, founder of Uks (Islamabad, Pakistan), a research, resource and publication center dedicated to the cause of gender equality and women's development.

Sehba Sarwar talks with Claudia Kolker, contributing editor at the Houston Chronicle and author of The Immigrant Advantage: What We Can Learn From Newcomers To America About Health, Happiness, and Hope. On April 19, VBB brought punk rock star and writer Patti Smith to Houston for a performance and reading from her award-winning memoir Just Kids. As part of her special Houston visit, Patti spent an hour on KPFT Pacifica Radio 90.1 FM talking with Sehba Sarwar and Michael Woodson about art and activism, motherhood, the process of creating art and much more.
